He calls out Geraldo Rivera in the song “YAH” after what he said about Kendrick on the news. He talks about some interesting stories on this album as well. You could really see and hear the ups-and-downs Kendrick has gone through in his life as the best rapper in this generation. He talks about loyalty, love, religion, self-hatred, depression, etc all in one album. Again, one minute he is feeling on top of the world and the next he is rock-bottom. There are just so many things going on in this album, that at some points it is kind of hard to keep track. He also talks about how his family and friends seem to be turning on him. He shows that he still struggles with depression and self-hatred and feels like nobody is with or praying for him. For example, on the song “FEEL”, he is really bringing out the negative in him. He seems to go through just about every emotion possible on this album. He made a lot more hit songs than on his last album, which shows Kendrick can really cover all the bases in the hip-hop game. You get a lot of nice tracks on here that seem like that they could make the radio or a club such as “DNA”, “ELEMENT”, “LOYALTY”, “HUMBLE” and “LOVE”. It really stops you in your tracks, especially if you have no clue what the hell is going on. The intro to the song “Blood” catches my attention as Kendrick is trying to help this blind lady find something that she has seemed to lose. He is also talking a lot about his religion and his confusion/frustration of it all. One minute he is telling rappers in the game that he is the best in the game, the next he is going through a depression state. Listening through the entire album, his emotions seem to be all over the place. Once you listen to the album, it makes sense. The song is a banger, which I was completely surprised to hear so I didn’t know if he was going to skip the whole concept album and just make hits. Once I heard it I was ready for that album to drop. Normally when a single comes out I try not to listen to it until the album comes out however, the curiosity got the best of me when he dropped the song “Humble”. Of course I am ecstatic to hear what Kendrick has to say we all know he is going to put out another concept album.

He has put out back-to-back classics (YEAH I SAID IT CLASSICS) and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down. I think, by now, most people who listen to hip-hop know that Kendrick is the best in the game and it isn’t too close. I really didn’t know where he could go with this album, but whatever it was I knew it was at the very least going to be really good. After dropping one of the best hip-hop albums of the decade, To Pimp A Butterfly, I think we all knew it was going to be really difficult to top.

Kendrick Lamar, rapper from Compton, California, dropped his fourth studio album.
